Yard Sale Book Haul

In my post about building a home library, I forgot to mention yard sales!
Yard sales are one of the coolest ways to collect rad books!
You get to go on a treasure hunt, meet interesting people, and sometimes even hear the history of the book.
When I purchased our Hardy Boys collection at a rummage sale last summer, the man I bought them from actually had a really hard time letting them go home with me. His wife gave the whole collection to me for $8 and he was incredulous! He said that as a boy, he had worked really hard to save up his money, and he rode his bike down to the store to buy them. Those books mean so much more to me after hearing that story! I ended up giving him a bit more for them because it was worth it to me.

Last Saturday, Pepper woke me up bright and early so that we could go down to the rummage sale put on by the youth girls in our church. Her goal? Find LPS,  of course! (Littlest Pet Shop toys) She did, in fact, find one cute little mouse. It made her extremely happy. So did this amazing dollhouse!

It actually was donated to the rummage sale by some friends in our ward and I snatched it up the moment I saw it. It came with all the adorable little wooden furniture. All THREE of my kids are in the bedroom peacefully playing with it as I type.

Okay, so, on to the books!
I am really happy with the books I got. Let me know in the comments if you've read any of these!

The book on the left I'm really glad to have found! I have it on Kindle, and it is such a fantastic read. I will definitely read it again and highlight the daylights out of it! The one on the right I read as a youth and I think my kids will like it.

Goosebumps! Need I say more? Fablehaven is a series my boys have shown interest in, so I got it. We also have book 1.

I'm married to a vegan, whom I also cook for. What can I say?

We love the modern Ripley's books, so I had to get this 1960's pocket version!

We are reading another book about Harry Potter and the fun facts behind the places and names that J.K. Rowling used. LOVING it. On the right, looking forward to this one.

I love me an old worn out copy of a classic.

These three books were the grand finale. The couple selling them had already begun to put away their stuff, as it was getting hot out. I had such a fun conversation with them about how we homeschool using the classics. I am completely THRILLED about these 1940's books, Jo's Boys, Little Men, and Eight Cousins. My "Little Women" collection is now complete. I LOVE Louisa May Alcott. In fact, I named our homeschool based on one of her quotes. Can you figure out which one?
